Pakistan Railways To Revive Narowal-Kartarpur Railway Line

On Wednesday, October 20, Pakistan Railways (PR) announced the up-gradation and rehabilitation of the Narowal-Kartarpur railways line, news sources reported. The decision was taken to facilitate Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.

The Narowal-Kartarpur project worth more than PKR 1 Billion will be presented in the upcoming meeting that will be presided over by the minister of railways. The news sources have reported that the route has been lying unused since 2003 due to faulty lines. However, after the inauguration of the Kartarpur corridor, the project is set to be revived to facilitate the influx of Sikh devotees.

A new line will be laid along with the construction of the station, with a station master room, basic sanitation and drinking water facilities and security gates. The project would have adequate resting facilities and waiting areas. In addition to providing better facilities, the importance of the route also means higher revenue for Pakistan Railways.
